Center City Campus

Group French courses at the Alliance Française's Center City location meet once a week for two hours for 10 weeks per session. The average course size is six students, with no more than 10 students per course*. Courses generally take place at 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM each weekday with the exception of Friday when courses are offered only at 5:30 PM. A limited number of courses meet in the mornings and afternoons, please call for more information.

We host 17 levels of General French Language Courses (levels 101-306) allowing instruction to students of all proficiency levels including beginning, intermediate and advanced speakers. This sequence is offered continuously each session.

We also offer a range of Specialized French Courses each session. Topics include literature, civilization, culture and business French and French Law for students with advanced proficiency. These courses are normally scheduled for one session only and cost $270.

classroom.jpgAll General Adult Language courses (Levels 101-306) cost $250 + materials. Enrollment is contingent upon advanced payment for course and materials. To be eligible for a refund, student must contact the office at least 24 hours before the first class. After the first class, only a credit for the next session will be issued (a $30.00 cancellation fee plus $25.00 per class is retained by the Alliance Francaise). No credit is issued after the end of the 3rd week of classes.

Children's classes: It's never too early to start to study a second language. Register your child for our Wednesday or Saturday classes! In class children will participate in various activities such as crafts, stories, French songs, music, and will also learn to introduce themselves, and follow directions. The cost is $130 for 10 weeks.

We also offer one-day Immersion Courses throughout each session. These courses represent six hours of intensive work within one subject area and are geared toward conversation with reviews of grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary. The cost is $140 and includes lunch.

Students who are new to the Alliance Française but who have taken French courses before or have spent time in a French speaking country must take an informal placement test at the time of registration.

Placement Test*courses will meet for 1 1/2 hours if there are 3 or 4 students; if there are 2 students, the course will become semi-private and meets for an hour once a week.

In order to ensure a more accurate placement, this placement test will be followed by a quick interview with a French instructor who will recommend a class.
