  Summer Session of French Classes 

The Summer Session in Center City will begin the week of June 3. Registrations will be held on Thursday and Friday May 30 & 31 from 12-2 pm and 4-6 pm and also on Saturday, June 1st from 12-3 pm.

The Spring/Summer Session in Bryn Mawr has begun the week of April 22.

If you are a complete beginner or have already taken classes with us you do not need to come to registration. If you have had French before but never with us, you will need to take a placement test during registration (15 min). If you cannot make the scheduled registration period, please call our office to discuss other options (215-735-5283).

Children Camps - French for Teens

Do you want your children/teen to learn French? This Summer at the Alliance française de Philadelphie, we will offer French for Teens classes and Children camps.

Children camps: July 2 - August 1, every Tuesdays and Thursdays - with Monique Coval
9:30 am - 12:00 pm: Beginner (ages 7-10)
1:30 pm - 3:00 pm: Basic (ages 4-6)
$400 for the session

French for Teens: June 18 - July 18 OR July 23 - August 22, every Tuesdays and Thursdays - with Zaza Benslafa & Julie Castagnet
$350 per session

Alliance française's Trolley Tour


Among the number of events we offer, Trolley Tours of French Philadelphia have been in great demand recently by our members. Spring is here and it is the best time to drive through Philadelphia and admire the sites designed by French architects or places where famous persons lived. We invite you to come on board with one of our wonderful guide and go back in time to discover the French side of the city of Brotherly Love!

     

We will discover with our guide the culture and history of the region relating to momentous events and prominent French individuals. The French presence in Philadelphia has contributed treasures and beauty to the cityscape, furnishing tangible evidence of the historical and philosophical ties between France and the United States - ties that date from the birth of our nation and continue to the present day.

   

Join us on Saturday, June 8 at 10am. We will board at 6th and Race Streets. The tour will only run if we have a full trolley (38 people). $25 per person.
Deadline is on May 24.

Lynn H. Miller is Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Temple University, author or co-author of several books on international politics, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Alliance Française de Philadelphie.

The late Annette H. Emgarth, who for many years led fascinated tourists through Philadelphia, was honored by the French Government with the Palmes Académiques and Officier d'Instruction Publique awards.

Bring a lunch and join us every Tuesday at 12:00 noon to watch a French movie with subtitles (*unless otherwise indicated). These films are free and open to the public.






Since its founding in 1903, the Philadelphia Chapter of the Alliance Française has encouraged the study of the French language and literature, promoted French culture and fostered friendly relations between France and the United States with a uniquely Philadelphia touch, style and tradition. The Alliance Française school has two campuses (Center City Philadelphia and Bryn Mawr College), a faculty of more than twenty and a yearly registration of 1500 students. The school offers a wide variety of courses designed to meet the needs of all students, from complete beginners to those who are fluent in French and want to further their conversational and/or grammatical skills as well as their knowledge of French civilization and culture.
